After cooking and lunch, if the weather permits, you'll enjoy a memorable experience: a 30-minute sightseeing flight in a small motor plane with the local aviation club. Soar above the lace-like archipelago of Lake Saimaa and take in the breathtaking beauty of Finland’s largest lake from above. The flight will depart from Lappeenranta Airport, located just 3 km from the restaurant. Arja Ylä-Outinen has been running Café Majurska (charming café in the historical Lappeenranta Fortress) since 2015, continuing her family’s long tradition in entrepreneurship. She’s passionate about local history, good food, and creating a warm, welcoming atmosphere for everyone who walks through the café´s door. Whether hosting cultural events or chatting with regulars, Arja brings heart and personality to everything she does. 

First, you’ll visit a local market to pick up some ingredients for an outdoor lunch. After that, you’ll continue your journey to the municipality of Taipalsaari, where you will cook traditional Finnish salmon soup with Arja. Outdoor, in a lean-to shelter by the lake in Sarviniemi.

After the outdoor lunch, return to town. Take a walk-through Lappeenranta Harbor, the Sandcastle, and the historic Lappeenranta Fortress. 

Enjoy a leisurely stroll along the scenic Lappeenranta Harbor and visit the famous Sandcastle – don’t miss the nearby Fazer shop for a sweet treat. Continue to the historic Lappeenranta Fortress, home to three museums: the Cavalry Museum, the Art Museum, and the South Karelian Museum (free admission in July). Within the Fortress area, you'll also find Finland’s oldest Orthodox church, along with other charming and historically significant buildings. 

During your visit, you can also experience one of the summer’s most anticipated events on Lake Saimaa: the “Wanhojen Laiwojen Regatta,” taking place in Lappeenranta Harbor from July 18-20, 2025. This unique event offers a chance to admire beautiful historic ships and soak in a one-of-a-kind atmosphere.

It’s a popular spot where both locals and visitors gather, offering a great chance to experience the local summer vibe. Restaurant also own Sustainable Travel Finland -label. @prinsessaarmaada
